ARC Electric Bikes

A memorable launch for the bike of the future

The challenge

When ARC asked Holosphere to support the launch of its ground-breaking Vector electric bike, there was an obvious synergy between us, and a shared desire to use new technologies to maximum effect.

Vector would take its bow at the prestigious Milan Motorcycle Show. With the eyes of the world watching, it was the perfect opportunity to deliver a high-impact demonstration of the bike, its world-first Human Machine Interface, Heads-Up Display helmet and connected haptic jacket.

The response

Vector is the brainchild of ARC CEO Mark Truman, previously Head of Jaguar Land Rover’s ‘skunk works’ innovation lab. He understood the potential of a Virtual Reality test drive and we got to work, syncing the hardware to specially commissioned sit-on plinths that mirrored the bike’s size and profile.

The headset doubled for the HUD, with screens relaying a virtual ride across the stand. Holosphere wrote the software to connect prototypes of the haptic jacket and link them to the virtual experience.

Vector is a bespoke product with hundreds of configurable parts and material combinations. To give potential customers the opportunity to build their ideal bike, we developed proprietary 3D projection mapping technology to generate a spatial AR 1:1 scale, white model of the Vector. A series of powerful projectors brought it to life from every angle and created a show stopping spectacle.

The result

Both the VR bikes and the projection mapped model drew big crowds at the show. There was a constant queue on the stand and over 200 people took a virtual test drive every day, with word also spreading quickly on social media.

The event proved the perfect showcase, not just for the Vector, but for our ability to deliver far beyond the content. This was a complete, event-ready system, that could be run simply by ARC ambassadors with turn key training – a high-end, PC-driven VR experience that ran smoothly day-in, day-out when it mattered most.

The reaction

“Having previously collaborated with Holosphere on a number of other projects, they’ve almost become an extension of our own team.

So we knew that their visualisation of the ARC bike’s HUD and projection mapping expertise were just what we needed for the launch. They didn’t disappoint and the level of interest we received in Milan far exceeded our expectations.”
