BlackBerry IVY

Automotive innovation, driven further

The challenge

UX agency Active Matter approached us to bring an AR dimension to the much-hyped launch of Blackberry’s in-car software at the 2022 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

Blackberry IVY is an intelligent vehicle data platform designed to enhance experiences for drivers, passengers and OEMs. With access to real-time vehicle signals and sensors, its data can be used to develop helpful applications both on and off-vehicle.

It was up to us to create the lightbulb moment that would reveal its full potential to delegates at the show.

The response

In order to communicate the flow of data between the car, the cloud and the applications which make use of the insights IVY provides, we collaborated with Active Matter to produce an animated 3D model.

Running day-in, day-out at the show, it illustrated the platform’s capabilities through a series of imaginative use cases based on a range of typical driver journeys.

We applied our augmented Reality to a Jaguar iPace electric vehicle, parked on the stand. Choosing a LIDAR-enabled iPad Pro for the AR device gave us the most accurate and robust physical feature tracking available. It allowed the closest possible match between the real car and the overlaid virtual graphics, crucial to creating a compelling story of the interface between the vehicle and the IVY platform.

The app was designed to work from any location around the car, which meant multiple users could explore and interact with IVY’s capabilities simultaneously.

The result

The AR experience we developed was the perfect way to bring IVY to life. It was able to inform and inspire delegates in the art of the possible and provided a powerful insight into the future of connected vehicles.

The reaction

“Holosphere brought their AR expertise to our work with IVY, redefining what was possible to achieve at the show. It added an extra dimension to our own capabilities and gave visitors a much clearer understanding of what the platform will achieve. Their team worked tirelessly to give us the wow factor we were looking for.”
